The Secretary read the minutes of the previous meeting. Motion Dorothy Butts / Fred Ormiston / carried ''that the minutes be adopted as read' There was some discussion / clarification from the minutes. No correspondence. FINANCIAL REPORT - was given by Dick Hopkins Motion - Dick Hopkins / Vince Herkel / carried 'that the report be adopted as read' The BCHA has received a gaming grant from the Provincial Government and it will be disbursed as applied for --------Newsletter deficit -- $1900 ---Trophies and Crests for the BC International - $150 ---Trophies and crests for the BC Championships -$ 500 ---First aid kits for all clubs - $1,200 ---Plaques for Hall of Fame - $200 ---Rental Facilities and computer for BC Champs,BC International - $1,600. ---Meeting room rentals --$ 600. REGIONAL REPORTS -- ISLAND - By Fred Ormiston ---Victoria Mens , Ladies' and teams' leagues have had an increase in participants. Victoria had a great golf tournament. Dorothy Butts and Munj Manhas did a fundraiser for Cancer at the University of Victoria. Next week-end is Victoria Open Port Alberni is having their first Tournament June 15 and 16 Powell River had an Open House and it poured rain that day ! Cumberland Days is this week end Ladysmith has some new members this year. Nanaimo is having a tournament June 30- July 1, in Ladysmith. NORTH - no report INTERIOR - By Ernie Connolly The Tournaments so far are all turning out o.k. Thanks go out to the Nicola Valley , who reversed their Tournament days of play to [doubles Sat.,open Sunday ] ,so that the Connollys', the Tomasevics' and the Rayners could attend the Celebration of Life for John Richards, Winfield, who passed away suddenly May 9th. LOWER MAINLAND --by Sam Tomasevic Cloverdale is looking at a couple of people taking a free First Aid course. Chilliwack Club hopes to be up and running again next year. COMMITTEE REPORTS Hall of Fame --Fred Ormiston --only one nomination in as yet -- for Male Player. June 1,2001 is the deadline. Supplies --Vince Herkel -----Has 19 pair of M&Ms --Sold 2 pair of Can Flip Shoes.Price is $ 40.pr.,or $30. in lots of 5 or more.Five pair were returned as faulty. Dorothy Butts did a pamphlet for them. --the BCHA pins will be available soon at $3. each. RAFFLE--Tickets are being distibuted now. Senior Games --Dick Hopkins is helping Robin Degraaf and the Cloverdale Club with the Horseshoes. Canadian--The BCHA has bought an ad in their program ---Vince Herkel and Dorothy Butts will be delegates at the Canadian AGM World - Entries are down this year. PRESIDENTS REPORT Sam says the website is doing well He has received a donation of trophies and will use some for Perpetual trophies for the International for classes that do not as yet have them. Only 78 entries for this week end. OLD BUSINESS Measuring tool-- Motion - Fred Ormiston / Ernie Connolly / carried 'that the BCHA order the minimum quantity and we sell for $ 10. each' Travel fund --No one applied for money for the Canadian or World this year. Motion Fred Ormiston / Ernie Connolly / carried 'that we pay $ 100. each to the A class Champions that attend the BC Championships in Quesnel this year.' NEW BUSINESS ---The Treasurer will apply for another grant after Sept. 1,2001. ---Discussion -- that there are to many Tournaments. Most duplicate dates are a long distance from each other. ---Discussion --Tournament rules. Tabled. --Judges - Who picks them,etc. Sam appointed Vince Herkel to put together a basic 'Judges' qualification kit / program. Maybe give out 'badges' or cards to qualified people. --Fred Ormiston presented a draft of a motion that he will present at the AGM , for the Executives' input. GOOD AND WELFARE John Richards - Winfield - passed away May 9, 2001 Norma Bischoffs' husband passed away. - Kamloops Kamloops -Earle Andersons' brother Greg passed away. Our condolances to all the families. Bernice Busch - Nanaimo -has bone cancer. Marie Lalonde is having tests for colon cancer. Wendy Tomasevic has been really ill again.
