EXECUTIVE MEETING FEBRUARY 25, 2007 AT THE CLOVERDALE HORSESHOE CLUB 10AM Sign in: Sam Tomasevic, Robin Degraaf, Dorothy Krimmer, Cheryl Degraaf, Marcel Pinette, Fred Ormiston, Allan Cummings and John Hamler. Vince Herkel was absent. Call to Order: 10:14 am Introductions of New Executive and Reps: Sam Tomasevic welcomed the new executive and Regional Reps. Amendments /additions to agenda: None Minutes from Sept.01, 2006 AGM in Quesnel: Cheryl Degraaf read the minutes Business from the Minutes: Fred mentioned that regarding the senior's games that non members are playing and that the senior's games organizers pay $100 for non members to play. Dorothy is to confirm if we received the $100 for the 2006. BCHA runs the event for them each year. * Fred nominated Dorothy to follow up for the 2007 seniors. * Seconded by Robin and carried Financial Report: Fred asked how we were doing with the cash raffle each year. Fred pointed out that it seems the cash raffle is falling behind each year. Fred suggested that maybe we could have an early bird draw with the winner's name being put back in for the rest of the draws to get more tickets sold. Fred asked Dorothy if she would be able to have the Internationals and BC Champs broken down. Affiliated Programs: 1) Air Miles Cheryl to get list of Air Miles Sponsors. Cheryl cashed in some air miles for gifts for the BC's and the Internationals. An apartment size freezer and a 3 piece wheeled luggage set. 2) Canadian Tire Money We have $13.95 in Canadian Money Dollars and hoping to get more when people come to tournaments. 3) Husky/Mohawk Rebate Cards No money yet. WE figure that people are using their points towards their BCAA International: 2007 and 2008 will be held in Abbotsford at the MSA club. Highway man will be putting in added money. BC Championships: Will be held in Cloverdale this year. The only club that put a bid in for the 2008 BC"S was the Victoria Club. * Dorothy motioned to have it in /Victoria 2008, * Seconded by Marcel and carried Canadians: Prince George club might bid on the Canadians. You need a minimum of 8 covered courts for A pitchers. Raffles and Draws: Fred made a motion that we have an early bird draw for $100 then put the winners name back in the draw for the $400, $300, $200 and $100 draws. Seconded by Cheryl and carried. Robin asked if 1250 tickets ordered for cash raffle. Robin suggested that we lower the ticket price so more people would buy but Allan said it would defeat the purpose so we decided to keep the price as is. Cheryl said we will have an extra special raffle for the Internationals and the BC's. The clubs should be selling the cash raffle tickets at their tournaments. Supplies and Jackets: Marcel has one jacket and Robin has 15. Cheryl to order more membership cards. Cheryl gave 200 memberships cards to Dorothy Krimmer. Presidents Report: Sam is updating the Website. Ladysmith Mixed open tournament has been cancelled. Cheryl read the President; report form Quesnel AGM Newsletter: Sam is working on the newsletter but still not getting very much from the clubs with the exception of Winfield and Penticton. New Business: WE talked about memberships dropping and how to increase the membership. Cheryl will send out a new computer program for horseshoes that she was emailed with and email the info to Sam to check it out. And see if it would work for us. Cheryl suggested that each club could give out a free family membership to silent auctions etc.and increase their membership. The cost to the club (IF the people join) would only be $26 that they send to BCHA. Rep Reports: 1) North (Marcel Pinette) Prince George - All executive is down south. Ft. St. John - Nothing to report. Quesnel - Jeanette nothing to say right now. Ted Kuppershmidt is sick and in the hospital 2) Interior (John Hamler) John sent an email to all the clubs in the interior. He was asked about having a handicapped tournament. John said they should advertise it first. They will be removing 4 pitches or maybe all the pitches? Sheldon Wessell is the new president for Vernon. They have been playing crib throughout the winter. They are fixing up their pits. Winfield played cards all winter. Put pamphlets in the mall. The other clubs did not respond to John's emails. 3) Island/Powell River (Fred Ormiston) Clubs don't have a lot to say right now. Victoria started their spring league two weeks ago. 28 people approximately. Sue McDonald is the new president. They have covered 6 more courts for the 30 footers so now they have 10 30 footers covered courts. Pt Alberni plays every Sunday. Ladysmith, Cumberland and Victoria attendance is down at tournaments. Bob Renton passed away. Wayne Krimmer also passed away. Fred's uncle diagnosed with canner. 4) Lower Mainland (Allan Cummings) Maple Ridge has had no meeting yet. Decline in their membership and this may be their last year. They asked about the Ringer Roundup. Archie from the MSA club emailed Allan. Their contact person is not Tom Harris it will be Archie. Central Park almost lost part of their roof during the storm this year, when a tree fell and hit the corner of the roof. Horse Heese is very ill and might loose his leg from the knee down. The executive is till the same. Chilliwack is struggling with membership and this may be their last year also. Cloverdale has games night on Mondays, Poker on Tuesdays and crib on Thursdays. They will be hosting the BC's this year so getting prepared for that. Getting new members. They found that the sign they had out front really brought in a lot of new people to try out the game. Cheryl is still the President; Ernie Sievert is the new Vice President and Phyllis Knowles the new treasurer. Open Floor Discussion: A complaint was sent in regarding Jerry Harach. Talked bout sending him a letter. Winfield has banned him from their club. A letter will be sent to Jerry. We are to deal with him within the house.
