A moment of silence was observed for those who have passed on in the "horseshoe family" 4. The agenda was presented for acceptance. Larry Lynch moved the agenda be accepted as presented. Seconded by Winnona Kilbourn. Carried 5. The minutes of the 2002 AGM were read by the secretary. 6. Vince Herkel moved minutes be adopted as read, seconed by Gordon Butts. Carried 7. Business arising from the minutes - none. 8. Treasurer's Report - Dorthy Butts presented a financial statement of current balance. She reported the money given the WHT committee in Red Der ($2400) was repaid. She also received a note from S.A. fisher with her regrets at being unable to attend. Dave Kilbourn moved acceptance of this report for information seconded by Darlene Rathburn carried 9. Correspondence. A letter from Bill Gibson Chairman of the 2002 WHT committee thanking Horseshoe Canada for assistance and cooperation before and during the tournament. Horseshoe Canada was recipient of an Alberta plaque as a Gold Sponsor of the Tourmament. 10. REPORTS TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR - Dianne Bec. "The entry was 140, 8 dropped out and 2 late entries makes 134. I would suggest the crest be made smaller. The lady who makes them we could could have the same design but smaller. I would like you to inquire within your province for some one to take the position of tournament director. I hope that next year someone will take this position. I have enjoyed the position for 7 years but I feel I should step down and give someone else the opportunity to travel, to spend time with the wonderful horseshoe family and be part of the Canadians". NHPA - JACK ADAMS - reported the tournment in Eau claire had 1324 competitors with 29 Canadian players. In junior boys, Drew Beck, Ont. repeated as Champion with Buddy Dyrda BC 6th. Jr. Girls Kelly Malette, Ont. 4t. In Senior Ladies Lucille Leis 2nd. In Ladies Championship Class, Sylvianne Moisan, QC won her 4th consecutive championship, Sandy Janssens On. 13th Angline Moisan QC. 15th. In the Men's championship class, Adam Ellis, Ont. 4th. Andre Leclerc 15th Stan Leis 22nd. There is a new division 9 years and under pitching 20 feet. The 2004 World Tournament will be held in Pocatello, Idaho July 26 - August 7, 2004. In 2005 July 18-30 Bakersfield CA. is the site RULES AND REGULATIONS - Jack Adams reported the distance behind the peg will be 3 feet instead of 4 ft. In count all scoring both receive credit for ringers only (U.S. only) HALL OF FAME - Jack Adams reported Andre Leclerc is the outstanding male player to be inducted into the Hall Of Fame for 2003. The 2004 category is Outstanding organizer, builder/ player. Nominations with resume should be sent to Jack Adams by April 30, 2004. COACHING - No Report PROGRESS OF CANADIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS IN VICTORIA, B.C JULY 13-17. Meeting to be held July 13 Dorothy Butts handed out information booklets to the delegates. 2005 HALIFAX - Cec Mitchell reported it will be between facilities. Everything going well looking at major sponsor. CANSTATS - No Report PULBIC RELATIONS Jean Markle Last year pins were handed out at the meeting. Do you still wants pins? Ed Murray designs the pins and they cost us $4.00 to have made. PRESIDENTS REPORT George Barton thanked all the special committees and executive for their help in his four years as President. He h as been involved for past 37 years. Was pleased to have gotten the format for hosting finalized, and to see so many provincial websites. 11. Business arising from correspondence and reports: Moved by Larry Lynch we reduce the size of the crests. Seconded by Paul Carroll carried. 12. Auditor's Statement Jack E. Adams presented the audited sttement for our fiscal year end May 31, 2003. A motion was made by Vince Herkel. Seconded by Dave Kilbourn. Carried. 13. Unfinished Business - Letter from Bill Gibson requesting additional funding for 2002 to be refunded if a profit occured. This money was refunded as reported by the treasurer. 14. The special meeting survey was reported on by Jack E. Adams. Andre Leclerc had results but the concensus as the championship classes should be the last draw of the day. 15. Resolution (as presented on the Horseshoe Canada Website) Be It Resolved That: Starting in 2003 the Canadian Championship guidelines be amended so that: a) Non-Championship classes be 40 shoe games. b) Non-Championship classes will play in groups of 8 players, double round robin. Dorothy Butts requested direction as to what to do with the records from 1977 to the present. Bundle them and give them to the proper officer next year in Victoria. Larry Lynch gave the delegates an explanation of the parade and opening ceremonies to take place at 3:00PM today. There will be meals upstairs every day with breakfast at 7:00AM. There will be special suppers every night. Tickets for the banquet are $20.00 and are still on sale. After the banquet, each person will be given $10,000 in "funny money" to gamble at a casino.
